My apologies for the lack of updates. Been really busy on some stuff lately. What's even worse is that I'm sick now.
The last time I attended the Famine 30 Hour Camp was in 2009, as a camper along with a few friends.
This time being, we volunteered. Met friends from the previous camp and knew even more people from this.
I must say, volunteering ain't as easy as you think. Running around while trying to starve for 30 hours, sleeping late and waking up early, making sure campers are really enjoying themselves, all sorts.
But, it was a worthwhile experience. You get a t-shirt for free. Haha jokes.
More or less, there would always be giggles and laughter when we mention about the event. I do agree it's kinda funny when one says, "You're paying to starve?!" or "You're taking a day off work to starve?" Hahaha. :D
To be honest, it's really not about the starving when you really think about it though.
It's more on raising our awareness and playing our part in making a difference for the children. Standing up for these kids, and fight for their liberty to enlighten their hopes in life.
I must say, all the campers are very strong-willed. None of them, I repeat, N-O-N-E actually went to the emergency room for food (which really surprised us). Impressive much? Kudos to all!

The whole event was fun and enjoyable overall, despite some of them already snoozing on the floor or being reluctant to move due to exhaustion and hunger on the second day.
You won't regret it. :)
