Insomnia, never really believed in its true existence unless there's something big happening the next day under my consciousness.
But yeah, lately I've been having it. Lights off at 12am, but I always struggle to sleep until 2.30am or even later. Two and a half hours' effort in trying to sleep. Probably because I havent been sleeping lately since I came to UK. Not good, must tune my biological clock back.
I have this habit of playing music from my phone at night before I sleep and put it to auto-off at a certain time. But, my phone seems to still play music even after the time set for it to be switched off. Perhaps my phone feels me.
Anyways, I'm having my very final week of Easter holidays and then I'm back to 9am lectures again. Then 4 weeks later it's finals, my very first and last exam of my 1st year in University.
I have been pretty occupied for the past 2 weeks. We had a BBQ session just before the weather turned cold again. Yes, it snowed in Spring. But anyways, it was a post mortem session for the Dinner and Dance committee. It was pretty awesome I would say. Having not had barbecued food for so long, my tastebuds were satisfied.
The next day there was an Easter Egg Hunt and picnic by the Singaporean Society. Weather was pretty bad so we shifted indoors instead. Pretty fun running around searching for Easter Eggs. My friend won the game and ironically, I actually gave her a few of the duplicated Easter eggs I had in the beginning when she only found a few. Hahahahah.
And then we had a Disney Movie Marathon where we watched Mulan (yes the awesome asian disney movie), Atlantis, Toy Story 3, Tangled, and Tangled Ever After. Pretty epic as we had 10 people, one laptop was not enough. In the end, we took 3 laptops and arranged them into a triangle.
And together with the movie marathon was the so-called Tasteez Night.
Tasteez is basically this really awesome fried chicken store just outside where I live. Convenient and delicious, best of both worlds. It is said that if you've stayed around this location, Tasteez is a must try. My two friends, which are big fans of the fried chicken, actually went all the way to the city centre just to get KFC gravy as a sauce for the fried chicken. Oh and Tasteez is also famous for its cheese fries. Fries coated with BBQ sauce and cheese, simply magnificent.
And then, I had a Laksa session with the fellow Sarawakians in Sheffield. The laksa was so good, or maybe just because I havent had it in a while, I didnt really care about my health condition. I was getting sick actually, till the extent where my friend nagged me to rest more. But in the end I didn't fall badly sick, just minor cough and sore throat. Ahhh laksa is love...
I also had my Little Asian Holidays. Went up to Durham and revisited Edinburgh, both World Heritage Cities. Beautiful places I must say. Durham's a good place to relax and seek serenity while you explore its culture and history. And for Edinburgh, I must say I've certainly seen a lot more compared to my last trip there 2 years ago. Come to think of it, I wonder how I got lost in Edinburgh last time. It's relatively easy to find certain places in Edinburgh. Anyways, do check out the video I made for the trip! It doesnt include everything though because either my memory card was full or my camera battery ran out. Hahah.
Went to Alpacas Mayfield farm as well to see Alpacas and Llamas! The animals tend to stay far from us, but when they're near, we basically whip out our cameras and you could hear continuous shutter sounds. That was probably the first time I saw so many alpacas and llamas.
Then the following Friday was a friend's 21st birthday. She's well known for the Japanese in her so we made her a sushi cake! We posted the pictures on 9gag as well:http://9gag.com/gag/3837008. Cool stuff!
Went volunteering last Saturday. My arms were so sore after that, it was so difficult to even lift my hands. It was more of me that was hardcore though, and till now my shoulder and back still hurt. The place was initially a woodland, so the authorities want to convert it into a crop land. Our task that day was basically to prepare the land for the crops to be planted. There was so much glass in the soil we suspected the previous owner planted glass. But anyways, we had to clean the land that was filled with dried leaves, grass, branches and all, then try to soften the soil and remove weeds and roots. We were also called the most weather-resistant group because despite the continuous rain and cold we never grumbled and continued work! Something cool was that we found a jaw bone which was believed to be a dog bone. I found an ancient walkers bag as well! No photos taken by me for this unfortunately, it's volunteering anyways :P But I'll upload it when it gets on the group on Facebook.
It was then another Sarawakian food session. This time we had kolo mee! It was just superb I must say. Yummy! So much Char Siew (Roasted Pork), mince meat and vege!
So yeah, they basically sums up my Easter holidays for the past 2 weeks. Studying hard right now. Also this time at least the photos I've put up are taken by me myself. Heh. Anyways, thanks for reading and do leave a comment! Till next time, tata!
