Kuching Festival Fair 2012

Back in Kuching for 3 months and I'm just in time for the annual Kuching Festival Fair!

This festival gathers many people in Kuching to share their creations with the locals and foreigners. Normally, there would be a food festival, stage performances, selling of goods, games, rides and showcases.

The food festival not only includes our local delights, but others as well such as Korean Food, Taiwanese Food, Singaporean Food, Thai Food, and much more. On an average basis, there seems to be something new each year.

It was my first time seeing a store sell fried milk. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, melts quickly in the mouth too! The milk taste is sweet as well, it's pretty interesting. RM1.50 for a stick of 3.

My friend and I tried making it the other day after tasting this one. It's actually not as difficult as we thought it would be. Basically just made a hardened milk pudding sorta thing and fried with batter. Most said it was better, but the sweetness in ours was less.

Potong is a local popsicle. This stores sells all types of flavours. Ranging from the typical red bean to avocado, cempedak, and more.

And here's the super chewy Emperor Dragon Whiskers Sweet or Dragon Beard Candy that's been selling for many years. The outside of it is made of threaded dough and the inside is filled with peanuts. RM3 per pack consisting of about 5 sweets.

The famous Taiwanese Sausages. An evolution of flavours from original to spicy, cheesy, black pepper, wasabi, and so much more.

RM2 for each sausage.

Fried Oreo, I've seen this on the Internet before so it ain't something very surprising. What was really new however was Fried Coke. Didnt try it out but it was honestly something weird to me. Maybe it's just like the Fried Milk.

This festival would normally be held during the month of July/August for around 3 weeks. It's on every single day for the whole 3 weeks, starting from evening till late night. It gets really crowded on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and it's always a hassle to find seats.

But if you'd like a huge variety of food in just one place, it's probably one of the best you can find.
