农历新年 Chinese New Year.英国 England - Part I

Ahh yes, Chinese New Year in UK.

The mood here is definitely more dull compared to Malaysia. Fireworks, visiting, angpao.

Though I myself is away from home this year, I still have an awesome bunch of friends who visited my house and even "documented" it.

Received a card from my cousin too. Attached with it was an angpao. I swear that was the first ever proper angpao and Chinese New Year card I've seen in 2012.

And here in Sheffield, I was invited over to a friend's place for steamboat on Chinese New Year's Eve. It was quite cool having Westerners join us for this.

My friends and I steamed this buns or "paos" and brought them over. Seriously but the plate was empty in a blink of eye. The rabbit buns looks super cute too!

On Chinese New Year itself, I had a presentation on this project we're working on. First time in my life that I'm actually doing academic-related stuff on 1st day of Chinese New Year.

But our City Community, which is for residents of the student accomodation I'm staying at right now, had this celebration going on. It wasnt too bad. I learned how to play MahJong and won my very first game in real life (used to play them on the computer where you just whatsoever click).

The food they prepared was too little though. In the end we ordered takeaways from this place called Golden Lee. Cheap price, and good food! At least had a proper meal on the first day (though we ate at close to 11pm).

The best bit about this celebration was that, we got free lanterns! They had them for the decoration so we asked for it and now I've got two lanterns hanging at my window!

Also had a Chinese New Year potluck whereby I cooked Chow Mein. After coming here I'm starting to name all those food using Cantonese in the influence of my friends from Kay Elle.

Here's a shot of fireworks in Kuching as the clock striked 12am! Kudos to Aaron Ting! Nice shot indeed.

Anyways, that's all for now. Happy 7th Day of Chinese New Year, 人日!
